GRANT TOWNSHIP REGULAR MEETING
July 13th, 2026
Meeting was called to order by Supervisor, Todd Torrey, at 6:00 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance was said by all in attendance. (28)
ROLL CALL: Present- Jennett, Torrey, Bettis, Freeman, Emry

AGENDA for July 13th: Motion by Torrey seconded by Emry to approve agenda as printed.
All ayes

MINUTES FOR June 1st regular meeting with change of “ Daves Computer Service” to “ Sixty Lake Net”. Motion to approve made by Emry, seconded by Bettis.

TREASURY REPORT: Motion by Jennett seconded by Torrey to acknowledge and file Treasury report.
All ayes.

BILLS PAYABLE: Motioned by Freeman seconded by Bettis to approve bills for month of March 2026. All ayes

FIRE REPORT: On File. Motion to approved made by Emry, seconded by Freeman. All ayes.

PLANNING COMMISSION REPORT: Motion to approve made by Torrey, seconded by Emry. All ayes.

ZONING ADMINISTRATOR REPORT: Motion to approve Zoning administrator report from June 2026 by Jennett, seconded by Emry. All ayes.

BLIGHT ORDINANCE ENFORCER’S REPORT: Motion by Jennett seconded by Torrey to acknowledge and
File Blight Ordinance Enforcer’s Report as printed for month of June 2026. All ayes

CORRESPONDANCE: N/A

PUBLIC COMMENT: 6:23 pm

  1. Bill McKenzie- concern with dog feces bag being left on side of road, asking residents to please pick up after petsm also seeing uptick in dryer sheets and facial tissues.

UNFINSHED BUSINESS:

  1. Generator has been serviced- both fire and compost
  2. Garbage damaged by garbage truck has been fixed – homeowner is happy

NEW BUISNESS

  1. New Attorney- Motion to approve Bethany Richey as new township attorney made by Torrey, seconded by Jennett. All ayes
  2. Blight Department changes – Motion made by Torrey, seconded by Jennett to dismiss Norm Anderson from his Blight Officer position. Roll Call Vote- Torrey- yes, Jennett- yes, Freeman- yes, Bettis- Abstain, Emry- No
    Discussion of Jennett taking over Blight Duties
  3. Dump trailer for township use- Table
  4. Jordan Emry- Information Packet/ Questions for board pertaining to communications and unanswered questions
  5. Election dates: Early voting is July 25th – Aug 2nd at Tawas Twp Hall 8am- 5pm
    Regular election day is August 4th 7am-8pm at Grant Twp Hall.

Public Comment 7:04

  1. Fred Jennett- expressing frustration with blight situation and clerk
  2. Carrie Kalush- explaining process of township website and facebook posting
  3. Mike Serwa- Kattermans will take concrete
  4. Bill Mckenzie – question regarding non paid volunteer for picking trash
  5. Darla Arn- trailer would be nice to clean up woods at times and for blight
  6. Sherri Quinkert- stating that the board knows individually who is responsible for what and knows if they are lacking or need to step up
  7. Laurie Muldoon- would like to see board work together
  8. Kara Hauff- question about farmers and blight

Motion by Torrey , seconded by Jennett to adjourn at 7:40 p.m. All ayes
