Clerk’s Statutory Duties
Record Keeping and Board Duties
Maintains custody of all township records, books, papers, the book of oaths, and the ordinance book.
Acts as secretary to the township board by recording, maintaining, and signing accurate meeting minutes.
Posts and publishes legal notices for regular and special board meetings.
Delivers all official records safely to a successor in office.
Financial Operations
Keeps the general ledger and opens separate accounts for each township fund.
Prepares warrants or signatures for all township checks and disbursements.
Reconciles financial records with the township treasurer and prepares financial statements for the board.
Delivers tax certificates to the supervisor and county clerk.
Elections and Administration
Appoints a deputy clerk and posts a required surety bond.
Maintains the voter registration database and oversees local, state, and federal elections.
Chairs the township board of election commissioners.
Pioneer Cemetery
The selling of plots, maps and burial information for Pioneer Cemetery is all handled in this office.
