BLIGHT REPORT NOV., DEC.2025, JAN., 2026
After several months of bad weather, I’m getting back to work on current issues and those that have been a problem in the past. I have tried to stay up to date on past issues, but most of the problems are associated with summer or weekend residents. That is not to say I have not done anything during these last few months. I have tried several attempts to contact the TWP attorney with no success. I continue to try but our schedules do no not line up for a conversation, I guess. I will be more aggressively trying as the weather gets better. The reason for the conversation with him will be to make sure that if I issue a ticket to someone for blight that I have exhausted all requirement to issue said ticket. This was discussed at the last TWP meeting.
With that being said, a few problems that I have been working on include:
1) Two addresses on Shiawassee that continue to be an embarrassment in the neighbor hood. I have sent letters, regular and registered to these homes and received no response. As this month starts I plan to go to these locations and let them know tickets and fines for non cooperation will be handed out and left to the courts to decide penalties.
2) A call from “Steve” about a travel trailer in the backyard of the property that abuts his backyard. This trailer has been setting in the yard for approximately 10 years, per Steve, and has black mold and other problems associated with it. I will be looking at this as a possible health hazard as well as blight issues. The address of the complainant on N. Sand Lake Rd and he has given me permission to traverse his property to check out the trailer in the yard behind his.
3) I have documented several other issues that I have been working on in previous reports and I assure you that I continue to try and resolve these issues.
